Compare the Hair

Bennett is one stinkin cute kiddo. No disputing that. He is just hair-less. He's bald. He has had 2 haircuts in his life and they both included only removing the mullet growing slightly longer in the back and on the sides.
I don't mind all that much. Less upkeep, right? But, I was fairly certain my other two kids had quite a bit of hair at his age. So I looked back at some old pics. Bennett is just about 21 months.
Ava at 21 months
ummm...to her shoulders.
Christian 21 months

A nice thick, full head of hair. AND only a few weeks earlier it looked like this...
and that was with haircuts (even on the top).

Point proven. Thus he is our hair-less wonder. But I love that hair-less kid!

Love-Hate

Christian has a love-hate relationship with preschool. Last week was his first. He was so excited. I heard his little feet coming running down the stairs Tuesday morning followed by, "we godda huwwy. i got school today." He insisted on wearing his soccer jersey, which made is daddy proud. I wasn't about to ruffle any feathers, so I let him.

The picture below is technically his second day, but he is wearing normal clothes.

Unfortunately, the excitement lasted until we actually got to the school and he saw another little girl crying and realized that we were leaving. It didn't help that I got parent of the year by showing up at 9:20, which is early enough for him to get settled before a 9:30 class, of course his is a 9:00 class. Good one mom!
So drop off is getting better. There haven't been tears since the first day. He is happy as a clam when we pick him up and thrilled to teach us his new songs and show us his art.
On another note. I headed to a little farm close by with some friends and snapped a few of the boys.

There has been a request for a few of our hair-less wonder. So here you go...

(don't be deceived by that smile.)

Tuesday was Ava's first day of Kindergarten. I cried. Her preschool was a co-op so I was more than involved. I would walk into her classroom everyday, I saw how everything worked, I even got to see how Ava listened to directions (or didn't ;)). I loved it.
Ava was so excited to go. As you can see...
Here she is infront of her new school...all smiles.
Things changed slightly when we got inside and she realized she didn't know anyone.
So, unlike preschool, the kids lined up in the hall (with an aid mind you, not the teacher) until it was time for class to start. The teacher came out and asked the kids to come in and off they walked. I didn't even get to say, "Hi Ms. Perillo, I am Ava's mom...blah, blah, blah." I tried to peek into the room through the window with a few other teary-eyed mom's, but we were soon sent away.
So there you have it. She is practically grown up now. She even told me today that she knew her way in...and I didn't need to walk her to her line-up spot. So I sadly let her. Then Christian, Bennett and I walked in and peeked on her to make sure she made it. It satisfied both myself and Christian. It has definitely made me think of whether I have taught her well enough to make good choices on her own when most other kids might not be making good choices. My full-time teaching job is over for her. Now I am down to part-time and next year will even be less. I guess you just have to make the time more important now.
With all this said and all the sadness I've had this week, 3 hours can go by pretty quick. It is really nice to have one-on-one time with Christian since Bennett naps. Christian starts school on Tuesday and is very excited. Although, he and Bennett were both ready to follow Ava right into class.
Oh, and in case you were worried, Ava made friends right away and LOVES school. They had Thursday off for the Jewish Holiday and she was very upset. ...Hope it lasts :)
